Good move ...
Its a great move by CenturyLink. Despite the company lacking branding and market positioning of other cloud service providers, its doing the bits. It should keep using the name Savvis with it, else it becomes confusing for developers. Containers for sure are the way to go. How will VMware react to all this? Given Savvis also has a vBlock-based cloud platform. Looks like everyone right from OpenStack, Docker, Citrix, to AWS is out to get VMware.

Kubernetes? Panamax? But what about Platform9?
Some VMware vets in a startup, Platform9, are getting into the act by producing a platform for managing hypervisors, virtual machines and containers from one management console. Announced today. Story to come.

CenturyLink is sponsor at this time...
So far, all the contributors to Panamax open source are from CenturyLink. But Lucas Carlson understands how open source works and hopes additional developers will join the project, which could eventually lead toward greater independent governance -- my words, not his. OpenStack and Cloud Foundry became big enough projects to warrant their own foundation and governing boards.
