Re: Subways!
@Dave: If you want to talk about which city is creepier at 4 a.m., Vegas definitely wins. You can ask me how I know this, but I'll plead the fifth.

I love when I set up a joke for someone and they deliver. :)

@Susan- I have to say none of those vermin seem nearly as scary as what you'll meet at 4AM in the poker room at the Rio on a Wednesday night. :)

Out of curiosity, what is the toll for a bear to cross the GWB? Just in case I see one panhandlong.

NY wildlife
@Dave: While Vegas certainly boasts its share of non-human wildlife, NYC can't be beat for its variety of species. Alligator in the sewer legends notwithstanding, among the creatures great and small that can be seen on the island of Manhattan are: Coyotes; Falcons; Racoons; Opposum; Geese; Snakes; Wild Parrots; ;and the occasional beer or deer that somehow manages to get across the GWB from Jersey without paying the toll.

I heart NY.

Re: Subways!
@Jim: Please don't encourage my irrational fears of bedbugs...

Aside from human wildlife, I have encountered the following in my years riding the NYC subway: A lost cat (in the 42nd St. pedestrian tunnel that connects the No. 7 to the A/C/E lines); a humongous rat that brushed against my leg while I was seated on a platform bench (needless to say I always stand on the platforms now); a winged cockroach the size of my hand (I have small hands); a pigeon (granted, this was on an elevated line so the poor thing did have an escape route at least) and countless scurrying rodents running around the tracks and platforms.

None of these encounters have scared me as much as the ones I've had with a select few subway-riding humans...

Now I want to visit both places
David, you're killing my travel budget, you're making me want to visit both places. The aligator in the sewer legend is a favorite of mine and made me laugh when you got to it. Love the strange similarities and difference between each city.

Las Vegas has the craps tables, but if you want to bet really big, itís hard to beat Wall Street.
Interop NYC is also bringing together the primary NYC vertical industries; the biggest is Finance followed by Gov/ed, Professional Business Services.

wait a second wait a second
Dave, I've got to disagree with you on Nicolas Cage. His best movie is Raising Arizona, which is set neither in Vegas nor New York. But MOONSTRUCK was set in New York, and that has to win. I LOST MY HAND! I LOST MY BRIDE!

IT's Reputation: What the Data Says
InformationWeek's IT Perception Survey seeks to quantify how IT thinks it's doing versus how the business really views IT's performance in delivering services - and, more important, powering innovation. Our results suggest IT leaders should worry less about whether they're getting enough resources and more about the relationships they have with business unit peers.
