We have utilized consulting firms for all stages of our implementation. It seems as though full time resources with experience in the system are harder and harder to come by. It's very difficult for practices to compete with what consulting firms for these types of people also. It's absolutely helpful to have consulting firms help with the more advanced part of the system, but as most people know by now that if you don't implement it right to start with adding on advanced features is nearly impossible.
