Good article. The Schaeffler Company out of Germany uses Salesforce along with many global companies to attract the best people to fill their positions world wide. Salesforce is well on its way to becoming the next Oracle.

re: Salesforce.com's Next Steps To Become The Next Oracle
Interesting article. I do wonder if Oracle is the correct comparison, though. With the Sun acquisition and Oracle's dependence on its database, Oracle seems to be off on its own. I think Salesforce is a bit more like SAP in terms of the range and vision of applications supported because I don't see Salesforce being as dependent, long-term, on CRM the way that Oracle depends on the database revenue.

But I agree with the big picture idea that Salesforce is on its way to creating a full business platform in the cloud and it's something to take notice of. Dreamforce was impressive in showing a lot of products that were hinted at in last year's vision of the future.

Doug has really nailed the Salesforce vs Oracle growth story here. Salesforce is designed to grow into other corporate departments (HR, Marketing, etc) where Oracle tends to stumble as it takes on both Salesforce and SAP -- and don't forget IBM. Plus Benioff is a lot more entertaining than Larry.
