re: IBM Accelerates Big Data Analysis
IBM seems to have big jump on some of its competitors in the Predictive space. SAP is lagging in the Predictive Market --- as they are very late to this game. It seems that all of the major players are deploying a two-pronged approach to their services. 1) Push it to the Cloud or 2) Create templates that are used for On-Premise solutions. This article refers to these "templates" as "accelerators".

It will be most interesting to see how Microsoft SS BI continues to compete in this space. As I believe that they are likely the best positioned in the long term to assume a leadership role in Predictive. As the saying goes --- if you own the platform, you own the world. SAS Doesn't really own the platform --- so it will also be interesting to see how competitors move int to take their marketshare over the coming years.
