re: HP's Whitman Faces Skeptical CIOs At Gartner Event
HP started to lose its way when the last of the founders died (late 1990's?). It then sold off the core businesses and focussed on computing. However, it seems not to have re-invested the billions in capital from the sales into R&D. HP should have been in a position to lead the IT industry for decades to come. They blew it. I used to have lots of HP products in my personal and professional life, now I have none. Oh, and I think that HP being run by an outsider is an insult to Bill's and Dave's legacy. I wonder if she's read, "The HP Way?"

re: HP's Whitman Faces Skeptical CIOs At Gartner Event
So basically Gartner charged a fortune from HP for this paid marketing event. Good for Gartner, as for HP, its future remains uncertain and will take a lot of effort. Good thing for HP is that its too big and no one is willing to buy it even after it creates companies out of its individual business. Therefore, if need be USA government will fund it like it did those bankrupt financial institutions as it has to protect so many jobs. Overall, Gartner's model is brilliant, ask large and lost companies to leverage its platform after paying a fortune. Cool stuff !!

InformationWeek's IT Perception Survey seeks to quantify how IT thinks it's doing versus how the business really views IT's performance in delivering services - and, more important, powering innovation. Our results suggest IT leaders should worry less about whether they're getting enough resources and more about the relationships they have with business unit peers.
