Doesn't matter what you can do to fix the issue. If a compnay makes an obligation to do something they should do it, peroid. The EU should hit MS with a major injuction preventing them from squeezing out of this a second time. Excuses are just excuses. This is another Ballmer screwup. It proves he should no longer be running MS!!!!!

MacBooks do not have 89% market share in Europe as Windows does. That is the key difference!

re: Microsoft Apologizes For Lack Of Browser Choice
People do not install the OS when they go to an electronics store and buy a ready to go PC system. Many also do not know that there are other browsers or how to install them. I agree that there should be some minimum training mandatory before operating complex machinery, but that isn't the case for consumer grade PCs. That ballot screen isn't intended for the 20% of PC users with some degree of geekiness, but for the remaining 80% who are challenged by turning it on or installing Windows updates.
And with so much cash on the line there is no excuse for this supposed oops.Nobody checking product quality at Microsoft ever got the memo that the ballot screen is now a requirement?

Hmm, my Apple devices don't give me a choice at OS load either...oh, but maybe a Mac Book comes with no browser so I can choose...don't know that either is Evil, that's just life.

re: Microsoft Apologizes For Lack Of Browser Choice
They should just configure all future copies of all MS OSs to ship to the EU with NO browser installed, and let those idiots figure out how to get a browser on to an OS where none exists.

Anyone who doesn't realize that they can install any browser of choice after Windows is installed is probably not qualified to perform system installations anyway.

Just another Mafiasoft crime, just one of thousands that they committed over the last
30 years.

Nothing new from the Devil in Redmond really.

IT's Reputation: What the Data Says
InformationWeek's IT Perception Survey seeks to quantify how IT thinks it's doing versus how the business really views IT's performance in delivering services - and, more important, powering innovation. Our results suggest IT leaders should worry less about whether they're getting enough resources and more about the relationships they have with business unit peers.
