One of the disconnects with this issue is that the cost of data (to carriers) is arguably going down, as is the impact of incremental bandwidth, while pricing is not following (it may not be increasing, but it probably isn't declining). Too often we look at these issues in 2009 (i.e. 2G/3G) terms. However, service availability, as noted above is another challenge. --Paul Calento http://bit.ly/paul_calento

Art (and the research) gets at the heart of the mobile matter. Enterprises want to go mobile but also want fixed costs and no data caps to juggle. The carriers want to recoup their infrastructure investment, be seen as more than a data pipe provider and have data caps and throttles to handle high end data use. Until this conflict is resolved, the dispute will act as a drag on mobile adoption in the enterprise.
