re: EHR Vendor Promotes Standards-Based Interoperability
Interoperability seemed like it used to be a distant dream with so many different formats pulling the market different ways, much like the dvd/laserdisc wars of the 90s. I'm glad there seems to be an emerging standard for interoperability and that it's finally being backed by large EHRs and corporations. As I've said before, I feel this is this this missing piece to really move EHRs forward. Unless everyone switches to the same EHR, until the data can be easily exchanged the data is still too isolated to be made use of.

re: EHR Vendor Promotes Standards-Based Interoperability
Standards are universal. They are the essential "glue" that underpins an organized society and allows different entities to work within a common framework while still remaining competitors.

EHR technology has a somewhat nascent relationship with standards because the technology is relatively "new" in the market. The problem with developing interoperability standards (no matter which industry) has always been "who has the best standard". Although I am almost certain that it will, let's all hope this industry does not devolve into that type of catfight. We do not have the time or patience for it.

IT's Reputation: What the Data Says
InformationWeek's IT Perception Survey seeks to quantify how IT thinks it's doing versus how the business really views IT's performance in delivering services - and, more important, powering innovation. Our results suggest IT leaders should worry less about whether they're getting enough resources and more about the relationships they have with business unit peers.
