re: iPad Mini: Hands-On First Impressions
"Using my iTunes account, I was able to download and install about four dozen apps in no time. They all worked flawlessly. There are 275,000 iPad-optimized apps for the iPad, and they work with the iPad Mini just as they do with the fill-size iPad. " - Absolutely spot-on on this one.. Apps would be the main attraction for me.. A tablet without the vast selection of Apps is like a television with few selection of TV programs to watch.

re: iPad Mini: Hands-On First Impressions
I think people who love apple will buy oodles of them. And good for them! I dropped by the apple store and played with a mini. To be honest, it felt much wider than my nexus 7. Maybe I just have small hands because its still a 2 handed tablet. My hand grips my n7 perfectly. I also didn't find the build quality to be on par with the n7. The screen wasn't as nice and to honest, I like the rubbery grip the back of my n7 offers. I know everyone raves about the build quality, but it felt like another plastic tablet to me. And that's ok, its just not special. Also my n7 simply does more. I travel and love the GPS with Google maps. I tether so I always have an internet connection. Google now kicks butt. Put it with siri head to head and you will see what I mean. Download Google search on your apple device and you get a taste of Google now. The mini has a camera, but I tend to make fun of anyone (Android users included) who use a tablet as a camera. Its just funny.

I'm obviously not an apple person, but I looked and played and still don't see the appeal. Sum: I liked the mini, if your into apple, buy one. If your not, you will love the n7

I've found that if you are a good typist on a qwerty keyboard (I type around 70-80 wpm), you can do 2 finger typing quickly on the iPad mini in landscape mode, especially with the auto-correct. But you are correct that the mini is too small to use all of your fingers when typing.
