re: Online Education Policy Draws Fire In California
Online courses are just a new way to rake in excessive amounts of cash. The costs per student to have online courses are drastically lower, yet the tuition for credit courses is the same or even higher than other courses. The 'free' courses are nice, but since they count for nothing they are more for interested hobbyists.

Fritz, I'm guessing practically everybody at the UCLA event, from both sides, would have agreed computer- and network-mediated instruction is quite inevitable. As for the push-back, one topic I didn't report on were concerns, expressed more than once by different speakers, that two-tier education--elite colleges for the wealthy able to afford them; MOOCs for the rest--was a legitimate worry.

I'm not surprised by who is pushing back here (educators, whose jobs might be at risk, though I think that's probably overblown), but isn't this inevitable?

IT's Reputation: What the Data Says

Our results suggest IT leaders should worry less about whether they're getting enough resources and more about the relationships they have with business unit peers.
