Look, the ARM chip is VERY popular because it solves many of the problems that Intel is just now beginning to address. ARM is here to stay. So, Microsoft has to have an answer to that issue. Which ,means a new beginning. Which means you have a new OS that has to start from ground zero. Get over the beotching already. It will find its place at some point.
You don't have to have much imagination to figure out that the OEM's weren't lining up with MS right away. So, Microsoft decided to take the reins and run with their own hardware. That's a decision they likely should have taken a long time ago. Windows has long suffered from lackluster devices in the market... essentially ceeding the platform's fate to third parties. Time to put a stop to that.

"Windows RT... can only run software preinstalled by Microsoft or apps downloaded from the Windows Store" Sounds like the next order of business will be Balmer trying to buy CompuServe.

This will either be the last year for Balmer or Windows will see a big downturn while the rest of the entire world uses Unix based OSs.

I havw win 8 on my laptop and do not care for it. Windows 7 is far better.
