re: PC Shipment Numbers: A Tale Of Two Spins
I would certainly have to agree - there's a huge difference between an Android tablet and a dual-CPU, multi-core workstation class system. To classify them both as a Personal Computer, I think we'd have to get into a discussion regarding logically necessary and sufficient conditions.

Why not include cars with Internet-enabled touch displays or smart refrigerators? Things start to get very tricky when boundaries go away.

I don't understand why, if they are going to include tablets, do smartphones not also count. Makes me wonder if a radio transceiver was installed into my pc whether they would also no longer consider it a pc for the purpose of these numbers.
It seems including tablets makes the term too broad.

I think many IT leaders would side with IDC's Loverde: They want to see tablet numbers broken out. But tell me if I'm wrong here.
