re: Readmissions Don't Measure Quality, Harvard Doctor Says
Dr. Jha makes some good points regarding readmission being used as a quality measure. There are many other factors that affect a readmission that arenG«÷t tied into the quality of care that they received in their previous treatments. It is good that it causes the hospitals to focus more energy towards following up with patients after they are discharged, but then again, like he states, some hospitals may be getting wrongly penalized just because of their patient demographics.
