re: IT Changes Doctor-Patient Relationship For Better: Topol
ItGs an exciting time for the healthcare industry. With these new technologies that contribute greatly to patient involvement in their healthcare, physicians will be able to focus more on patients that are greatly ill and really need to be monitored by qualified professionals. Patient involvement is also a key component of healthcare IT and will play a major role if it is to be successful. With genome sequencing becoming more cost effective and available to more patients in the near future, we can also tailor medications and plans to individual needs, therefore reducing risk and increasing patient health nationwide.

re: IT Changes Doctor-Patient Relationship For Better: Topol
Dr. Topol has it so right. Pervasive, ubiquitous evidence based medicine's time has come. The future is today for many of the technologies Dr. Topol described and uses in his daily cardiovascular practice. As the cost of whole genome sequencing continues to shrink exponentially, many other benefits will be financially viable for millions of patients sooner rather than later.
