re: Google Play Bans Ad Blocking
I don't have a problem with little ad panels on the side of the screen... but if the ad stalls my screen load time by several minutes, or FREEZES my computer, then I have a problem.

Also, when ad panels load their own little commercial video that make your computer lag and blare their sound like a freaking siren in your face... THAT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

I've written to google about this several times already. People, we have to bring our problem to the advertisers, not the website.

I'm with you here: I can recall a particular ad for The Hobbit movie around the holidays that consistently froze my Android tablet. I don't usually mind ads, especially when I am getting otherwise free content, but they are growing too big, long, and unwieldy for mobile. Maybe Google should enforce uniform ad file size/length/availability requirements instead -- then everybody wins.

Ads are also a security risk. Ad networks continue to allow malware through.

re: Google Play Bans Ad Blocking
There are different reasons for blocking ads. One of the biggest is that they slow down the web site loading. The other is obnoxious practices of popping up a window. I have given up trying to use ad blocks, as I was spending more time enabling sites when the site didn't work without enabling javascript on some or all of the site. But it doesn't make it any less amusing when I visit my local newspaper site, and the browser wants to stop a script which was running too long, and all the script was trying to do was to pull down more ads.

I understand the sites need to make money, just don't waste my time pulling down a page just because the advertising syndication server is slow.
