I agree. The basic analytics tool that Pinterest offers barely scratches the surface, and using third-party analytics might help businesses grab the data they need to make better decisions about how they use Pinterest -- right now.

I wonder whether Pinterest will consider partnering with or incorporating third-party analytics tools in the future. It would be nice to see Pinterest incorporate a tool for users that already has a proven track record. Then again, a customized, in-house tool might also allow for flexibility to obtain certain data sets that are unique to Pinterest's platform.

I totally agree! But in the short to mid term, I think that for being effective, one should rather use third party analytics tools and wait for Pinterest's provided tools to be more mature and more useful.

While I think there is more to come for the web analytics tool -- including more features to come later -- I think the bigger picture here is that Pinterest is very effective as a marketing tool for businesses, and those who aren't using it or paying attention to it should be paying attention now and understanding ways to incorporate its use into their social media strategies.

Well, I hate to be the messenger when it comes to bad news, but regarding this new Pinterest Web Analytics tool, I think that as it is today, it suffers from some serious limitations.
