You might say that innovative thinking begets itself. The story of the transition from the traditional enterprise software (Lotus Notes) to an offering that grew up in the modern world of social collaboration illustrates how important platform design is to pushing the right buttons. Chubb found more success in its initiative after selecting a platform that were geared toward facilitating the right parts of the innovative process.

Idea management platforms for encouraging innovations are becoming the predominant form of enterprise-wide roll-out of social media for employee engagement. As existing enterprise application vendors are adding collaboration layers on social media, it is creating multiple online platforms for virtual communities.
