I'm not convinced this "digital officer" kind of role has staying power for many companies. It's needed to drive a transition period, but it'll soon enough be how IT, marketing, etc. get done.

It is interesting, and gratifying, that customer-facing CIOs are picking up additional titles.You can see where this trend may lead to more CIOs making the leap to CEO, as well.
