re: 20 People Who Changed Tech: Thomas Edison
Thanks for illustrating the true 'genius' of Edison at the end. It wasn't so much that Tesla didn't write things down, Edison made use of Tesla's good nature by always reminding Tesla that he works for Edison. And that implied that anything that Tesla invented (including light bulb, electric motor, generator, radio transmission, and a lot of other stuff) was Edison's property. When Tesla finally realized that he got scammed Edison did not pay Tesla a penny, but fired him on the spot with the words "Welcome to America!"
The only payback that Tesla could come up with was starting to work for Westinghouse, another evil scam artist who finally pushed one of the greatest minds science ever had into bitter poverty. Edison changed tech alright, he introduced marketing and scams into the industry, he invented abusing IP, and taking recognition when others deserved it way more. Bell was another one of those jerks who adorned himself with borrowed plumes.
