A great innovation for sport, but not entirely sure it can work as advertised. For example, in my case, it would be wise to add a geo-positioning system to the speed, arc and spin of the ball, one that could answer the question, "How close is the ball to the basket?" Who says we don't have ambition tech goals anymore? Cleaning up my jump shot would be a lot tougher than the moonshot.

One thing we're definitely seeing in this realm is the potential for cross-purpose application -- tech developed for basketballs, or windmills, or trains, might be even more valuable applied elsewhere.

So this technology could move to other sports equipment and musical instruments? That is fascinating. Also, it makes me wonder what this technology could do in a medical setting with physical therapy patients who are re-teaching their bodies to do certain tasks.
