re: Jawbone's BodyMedia Buy: Wearable Monitors Heat Up
I agree that the acquisition of companies such as BodyMedia is providing a boost in the market for similar companies providing similar technologies. The wearable sensors that they currently offer are excellent devices and have huge potential for improving patient healthcare. With the increased focus on these tools and devices especially in the mobile healthcare department, we are seeing much more innovation and useful products being offered in the market.

Not surprising to hear Cigna on the ground floor of this. At a recent event around mobility in insurance that I emceed, a surprising amount of health insurers were in attendance considering the property-casualty heavy program. I asked one what attracted him to our event, and he spoke about the amount of devices that allow insurers to offer personalized health improvement services to their customers. It shows how the definition of "mobile" is changing from the mobile phone to anything that allows a one-to-one, real-time, location aware connection between company and customer.

Our results suggest IT leaders should worry less about whether they're getting enough resources and more about the relationships they have with business unit peers.
