One would have to think that by going after smaller clients and providing compatibility between the smaller and larger systems that Cray is looking to capitalize on organizations looking to increase their ROI with regards to development costs that will eventually move to the larger systems.

The idea of making HPC more accessible to smaller educational institutions is an excellent move and something that I wish had happened 20 years ago. I'd have loved to have worked on a Cray system when I was in school.
