re: Why Telemedicine Should Be Integrated With EHRs, ACOs
I fully agree that telemedicine needs to play a bigger role and be fully integrated with all the existing systems if an organization is to be successful as an ACO, but that is not always so simple. The major problems that I see pertain to software compatibility issues. If there arenG«÷t standards developed for the transfer of information then integration will be extremely difficult across multiple platforms. Another issue that they focused on the article is also the amount of data that is collected can be overwhelming, but there are technologies being developed and some available that have capabilities of sifting through that data to find relevant information and apply it.

re: Why Telemedicine Should Be Integrated With EHRs, ACOs
There are a lot of things that need to be integrated and standardized. From the clinical perspective, standardized protocols are critical. standardizing the medical protocols leads to standardized workflows, reduces the need for the next physician to perform unnecessary retests, and should standardize data formats for analysis.

telemedicine holds great promise, and from an IT point of view, its presents the same issues as web services did in 90's.

IT's Reputation: What the Data Says
InformationWeek's IT Perception Survey seeks to quantify how IT thinks it's doing versus how the business really views IT's performance in delivering services - and, more important, powering innovation. Our results suggest IT leaders should worry less about whether they're getting enough resources and more about the relationships they have with business unit peers.
