re: MetLife Uses NoSQL For Customer Service Breakthrough
This is a significant advance on an age-old problem. I just so happened to interview a CIO using Oracle Endeca to integrate 20 disparate sources, but it took eight months to roll out the application. I have to do more research before I can say for sure it's an apples-to-apples comparison. Stay tuned for that one, but if anyone knows a thing or two and can compare consolidating access to structured, semi-structured and unstructured info using Endeca-like search technology vs. a NoSQL database, by all means share your insights.

re: MetLife Uses NoSQL For Customer Service Breakthrough
we ran a recent article about the city of Chicago using MongoDB to pull data from dozens of legacy enterprise IT systems so it could have that data in one place for analysis, including layering a mapping program over it for analysis. instead of one view of the customer, that could do things like one view of a building, telling an employee everything about it from various city departments.

We're seeing new titles in this digital revolution, new responsibilities, new business models, and major shifts in technology spending.

Who wins in cloud price wars? Short answer: not IT. Enterprises don't want bare-bones IaaS. Providers must focus on support, not undercutting rivals.
