Too many business owners run the company from "gut" rather than based on data, and this is where confidence and performance in innovation often falls flat. Just because one guy thinks it's a good idea, success means the entire company is behind the effort.

With social media now being a primary means for consumers to share information on products and suppliers, any business owner would be foolish to ignore the value of the data and intelligence these new media types can provide. They're not talking quietly amongst themselves... they're speaking loudly to all their friends and anyone else within reach (which is pretty enormous these days). Businesses who don't hear it are simply not listening.
