Interesting to see the kind of scale the government operates at. These numbers were eye popping for me, and I have some experience working with government agencies on their networking purchases.

I couldn't agree more with the need to end-of-life applications and gear. I believe that the industry position on perpetual growth, incrementally adding and adding stuff, is a killer. There is rarely a crisp business case for decommissioning things, but this article ought to be a cautionary tale of why you need to.
