The need to "bump" is indeed very limiting. If you want to bump several people you need to go look for them. With Airdrop, you can send to a number of people at once. You can do so as long as they are on the same network. So they could be on the other side of a crowded room, or even in another room on another floor. No need to go looking for them.

As far as Samsung's Ad went, no, you can't bump so done in a car and have them drive away if you're sending them anything other than a very small video. They must stay withing range until the entire thing is moved over.
