Forgive me if I came across as jaded -- having been covering tech for a number of years, it always amazes me that the "develop now, secure later" tradition continues.

You would think we would have learnded that "Bolting Security On" after apps are built does not work, but we still do it over and over again. So I hold out HOPE, that the industry in total will wake up, recognize this and avoid this issue in the coming technology boom - but I am not holding my breath!

As for hacking the car Richard CLark recently answered that in an interview and researches demonstrated that a couple of years ago!

Saying we should hope the security for these new platforms and applications will be designed and built in from the beginning ignores history - developers build first, worry about security later. There are essentially no standards, never mind security standards, as yet for the Internet of things, yet Cisco, GE and others are pouring money into IoT.Do you really believe that in the future someone won't be able to, say, hack into a car and take over control?
