IBM is actually promoting the availability of an IBM Power Systems-compatible version of EnterpriseDB with this week's announcement of the PowerLinux 7R4 http://twb.io/19uNcs4. The idea here to promote an open source replacement for Oracle Database, but you could just as easily use it to replace DB2. I guess they figure Linux customers who aren't using DB2 already are using or will use somebody else's DB.
