There's a lot of hype about the cloud, but it's far from being the panacea and nirvana for businesses that it's trumped up to be.

Did Gartner disclose how much public cloud providers have coughed up in "subscription fees" or whatever they're calling it now? No? Yeah, didn't think so.

Sometimes public cloud makes sense. Sometimes hybrid makes sense. Sometimes, doing IT in-house makes sense. Businesses will do what works for them, what delivers the right mix of security, performance, cost and customization.
