re: Amazon's Bezos To Shape Washington Post's Future
I think this is the best thing to happen to the Post in years. The paper needs someone who not only recognizes the value of digital innovation, but has the resources to drive that innovation forward. It is certainly the end of an era-- but the beginning of a new one, as well.

Despite the fact that Bezos is buying the Post on his own, I wouldn't be surprised to see a future Amazon/Post deal to resell Post content as Kindle Singles.

re: Amazon's Bezos To Shape Washington Post's Future
As CEO Donald Graham stated, Bezos has shown he'll invest in a business for the long haul, even when that business is public and subject to quarterly Wall Street and shareholder scrutiny. You have to respect Bezos for that. The newspaper/media business is one tough business, but if anyone has the digital chops and big picture approach to pull this off, it's Bezos.

I take data-driven to mean data about reader preferences. If the data is about the dollars of advertising, he probably wouldn't be buying, though there is the incalculable value of having a strong voice inside the beltway. I'm guessing that's what really drew Bezos' interest.
