Whitman has been counseling patience for a while now. The last time we polled HP customers, the majority of you were confused about the big vision. Let's hear from you, HP enterprise customers: Has Whitman clarified it by now? What about the change in leadership for the enterprise group -- unsettling or necessary?

People always lay into Wall Street for forcing public companies to manage for the next quarter. HP is a huge company that has made lots of mistakes, and it's not going to fix them overnight. Patience is indeed called for here. But as Laurianne suggests, it's critical that customers understand (and buy into) the long-term vision that Whitman is rallying everyone around.

As of yesterday's shuffle, Whitman has personally put in place new executives responsible for more than 75% of the company's revenue. So a lot of heads have rolled.
One industry insider tells me Donatelli had huge respect and was a potential CEO candidate whereas Veghte "manages up well." Meg's new people owe her their loyalty and know they'll be another executive in line to take their place if they can't execute, execute, execute!

Some optimism will be called for when we start hearing more about new/improved products and tech support (which has long been abysmal), and less about mergers, acquisitions, cost cutting, and reorganizations.
