I'm glad to see Yahoo doing better, but I still don't see the company doing enough to develop useful and meaningful services, like Yahoo Pipes. Audience aggregation on its own strikes me a long-term losing strategy.

Some Yahoo content areas have improved significantly, including Weather, Sports and Finance. Yahoo search is either pretty good or good enough, based on the Microsoft search engine, Bing. And a search for my favorite airplane or other topic tends to yield information, rather than a bunch of ads that reflect Bing's idea of who I am, based on previous searches. There are ads on many search results, of course, but they appear generic. Maybe Yahoo respects my privacy, or maybe it just lacks the smarts that Google has. Maybe Yahoo hopes to add those smarts in a future improvement. Either way, going to Yahoo currently is a win for me, as far as I'm concerned.

Yahoo was smart in its acquisitions and to target key areas for redesigns, especially Fantasy Sports. That is an ever-growing and steady market. That said, there is still a ways to go for Yahoo to work up to Google's innovation and reach.
