I think this will be a temporary solution. Eventually, Apple, Google and Microsoft will build something like this into their operating systems.

It will be interesting to see how the touch-conversion works in practice. Adobe Lightroom is surprisingly usable on a Surface Pro; even though it's a desktop app, there are a couple drivers that add basic touch support, and it's enough for anything but pixel-level post processing (and who would want to do pixel-level work on a screen so small anyway?). If Parallels has a hit here, it'll provide some insight into what kind of interactions models can be made to work with certain tasks, and how much convergence people really want from their devices.
