re: How Gap Connects Store And Online Channels
Great piece. One of the most important items to note is the fact that Gap hasn't done this for all their stores; only those with trained staff. It's a major transition to get your retail staff to pick, pack, and ship with the same efficiency of a warehouse that does it full time. However, it's the future if retail stores want to survive; they need to increase their inventory turns to match those with a larger % revenue online.

Ship from Store represents a huge adjustment to the digital world. It puts the Gap Inc. into closer step with how people, especially young people, now shop. They've already found what they want online. It's crucial to capture the sale when they walk through the door and not let them walk out disappointed.

Agree -- a lot of retailers talk about "omnichannel" strategy, but I found this one of the more concrete examples of where that makes sense, and the practical steps to get there.
