I believe discovery is going to be the future of social - learning about new films and music from your tastemaker friends is going to be more and more important

There is a great facebook recommendation engine app called recomendo that is trying to do this

it recommends facebook likes for a user based on their taste and in addition.
you can designate friends as tastemakers in specific categories and that influences what is recommended to you.

"Some 60% teens between the ages of 12 and 17 say they've made their Facebook profiles private." Wow, they've been listening after all.

re: Facebook Treads On Twitter Turf
Personally, I prefer Twitter to Facebook, especially in recent months. With all the advertisements on Facebook -- and a lack of substantive postings from friends and family -- I turn to a very small group of my friends on my private Twitter account that lets me keep up with those who are the closest and most important to me. But I don't know that I would appreciate this feature on Facebook. I think for businesses, though, this is a useful tool.

"Expect Facebook to resemble Twitter more and more in the months ahead."

Well, that's unfortunate.
