re: DATA Act, Pushing Spending Transparency, Regains Steam
Glad to see Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) used his Sept 18 hearing (on Budget and
Government Performance Task Force to discuss problems with
existing financial data reporting on USASpending.gov and rally support
for the Digital Accountability and Transparency Act.

re: DATA Act, Pushing Spending Transparency, Regains Steam
Earl Devaney, former chairman of the Recovery Accountability and Transparency Board (RATB), established a high standard for open data standards. You may disagree with how the government handled the bail out or where the money went, but the RATB showed that with little time and resources, it's not only possible, but preferable to set up data reporting that's open to, accessible by, and subject to correction from the public. Let's hope Representative Issa and the open data proponents on the Hill are successful with the DATA Act.
