Interesting to note, the Defense Department is reportedly taking a serious look at these socks to monitor the well being of "boots on the ground".

These socks seem pretty fantastic. Not for the reasons mentions so much as learning where you're putting pressure on your foot, the first step towards improving balance/knee aches/back pain, etc. PTs and Foot doctors can ask their patients to wear one so they can treat them better. Athletic apparel stores could help you pick out the perfect sneakers for support. Interesting....

The Embrace+ bracelet really takes smartphone addiction to a new level. A device on your wrist that notifies you about a device that's in your pocket 80% of the time.

I'm with you. A smartphone should qualify as "wearable tech" at this point.

Most seem pretty niche to me. I'm more interested in apps that use the smartphone to do this kind of monitoring without a new gadget. More Strava than smart socks.

Socks that chide me for being lazy. A wristband that chides me for opening the fridge for a snack can't be far behind.

I'm surprised by how accessible these devices are -- their prices aren't prohibitive and the technology is pretty advanced (smart socks?!).

IT's Reputation: What the Data Says
InformationWeek's IT Perception Survey seeks to quantify how IT thinks it's doing versus how the business really views IT's performance in delivering services - and, more important, powering innovation. Our results suggest IT leaders should worry less about whether they're getting enough resources and more about the relationships they have with business unit peers.
