Don't blame the update just because you didn't RTFM.

So in other words, people who did not RTFM and ensure their Surface RT tablets were fully updated before the upgrade were the only ones affected (Yes, the upgrade instructions included informing users to make sure all updates were installed!). So instead of blaming Microsoft for your inability to read, follow instructions instead. Sounds like a good idea to me.

re: Microsoft Suspends Windows RT 8.1 Update
It's not that Microsoft just makes this thing, this an extremely important update for people (like myself) to give the tablet a go, whether is an RT or a Pro. I still can't believe they screw up so much. Where were the beta testers?

re: Microsoft Suspends Windows RT 8.1 Update
I have a surface PRO and my touch cover keyboard no longer works after the 8.1 update. Tried deleting and reinstalling the keyboard driver and that didn't help. Found some system updates and that fixed the issue until I closed the keyboard. The next time I wanted to use my PRO it no longer worked. Hasn't been usable since Friday night. All microsoft could tell me is "Sorry, we are aware of the issues with the upgrade". Again no insight other then a fix will be out soon. How could microsoft screw this up especially on a piece of hardware they manufacture?

A shame and a joke
@ MikeD681
It depends of many factors, but a bricked device can be recovered. Where do you think the words unbricking/umbricked come from?
@ JacksonT347
I feel your pain. I wouldn't wanna be in your shoes right now. Call'em up! Maybe they will give you a new tablet

re: Microsoft Suspends Windows RT 8.1 Update
@Matthew Please note that "bricked" is not the correct term. Bricked refers to the device being permanently unusable. Because users can recover their device using a USB key, this bug did not "brick" windows RT devices.

IT's Reputation: What the Data Says
InformationWeek's IT Perception Survey seeks to quantify how IT thinks it's doing versus how the business really views IT's performance in delivering services - and, more important, powering innovation. Our results suggest IT leaders should worry less about whether they're getting enough resources and more about the relationships they have with business unit peers.
