re: Hadoop In Production: 5 Steps To Success
A much-needed dose of reality and practical advice here from Raymie Stata. This piece kind of skips over the thorny issue of different choices available from different Hadoop distributors. Cloudera and Hortonworks, for example, have different security/access control options. On 10/28, MapR is introducing its own security option that can work with or without Kerberos, which it says some enterprises find too complicated. The assumption here, though, is that you're in production, so you have to go with the options available within the distribution you are using. So that means open source options + whatever commercial alternatives might be available.
