It does, but all in all I'm glad we got it earlier. She's already saved on having to purchase several books, so it's probably a wash.

Bought my daughter the HDX for her birthday in November -- seems like we should have waited to purchase today for Chirstmas! She loves it; highly recommended for students because of the Amazon Prime student pricing. She can get many books she needs for class from the service.
