Re: Elon Musk
David,

Too bad it seems the video is not available in Europe. :(

Elon Musk is a good example to take as model. I wouldn't be surprised he served as inspiration for Iron Man. Believing in something to the point of risking everything, as he did, deserves merit.

Re: Elon Musk
The comparison is apt.  But so is one in the recent issue of FORTUNE, comparing Musk and Steve Jobs.  Former WIRED editor Chris Anderson notes that Musk and Jobs, though different in personality, both shared a powerful sense of seeing the big picture connections of a technology at work in a larger context; having the sense for how to make it happen; and having the optimism/belief/conviction to get it accomplished.  A good read for anyone interested in Musk (or Jobs).

Re: Elon Musk
In case you didn't see, the meme about Iron Man being "based on" Tony Stark, prompted this rant from John Oliver http://www.newsarama.com/18695-watch-john-oliver-rage-about-iron-man-media-inaccuracies.html

I think what may be true is that the creators of the movie took some inspiration from Musk

SpaceX
As others have said, I think the more interesting developments will come out of SpaceX. Electric cars are a nice idea, but until they can charge up in 30 seconds, they're a curiosity more than a viable solution for travel.

Re: Not only aluminum car
I do believe that the Tesla is the first of the electric cars to not be built on a pre-existing chassis - they developed the chassis uniquely for this vehicle. Not only did this save weight, but it also saved space, as an all-electric doesn't need so many of the components that a gasoline car does.

I wonder what will happen to the movement to electrics once someone decides to use all this now super-abundant natural gas to synthesize ethanol, or something else like it that can power a modified gasoline car?

No matter what, Musk's place in history is assured because of his titanic achievements at SpaceX.

It's your choice to be overwhelmed by all that info though. I have a friend who only accesses the web at work. Once he leaves works, he leaves the net behind. You have a choice and that is important.

Elon Musk
Elon Musk is often referred to as the real-life version of Tony Stark, Iron Man's alter ego, for his tech-savvy vision and knack for executing his goals. bit.ly/IQx4Gn

Re: Not only aluminum car
"Thirty years ago, the president of the United States had access to the most information in the world. Today, the Internet gives you more information than the president had 30 years ago."

To play Devil's advocate here for a moment, all that information can be overwhelming. I suspect that many of us who remember life before the Internet recall being unburdened by instant access to everything. The world seemed like a simpler place back then.

Not only aluminum car
Big fan of Elon Muk but must note that Covettes also have aluminum frames - and composite and carbon fiber bodies.
