Re: Just A Lobby Group?
I won't speak for Rob Atkinson, but I don't think any of these innovation issues will boil over into crisis mode. That's not to say they're not huge issues already -- talent shortage (lots of debate on that front), IP protection, funding for R&D, etc. are all multibillion-dollar issues. But it's hard to at what point they could reach a crisis. I think it's more a matter of prioritization and focus.

Re: Just A Lobby Group?
Very interesting idea. Has this kind of group failed to emerge in part because there's no single polarizing issue on the innovation front? Robert cites the R&D tax credit, liberalized immigration science research funding, IP protection as key issues. Do we need a crisis that catapults one of those areas to the top before we get this kind of lobbying group?

Re: Just A Lobby Group?
Rob, i see this as principally a lobbying organization.  Right now there is no one organization lobbying on behalf of U.S.-based innovation and competiveness insterests.

Just A Lobby Group?
Robert, do you see this association as mainly a lobby to influence US policy and investment? Or do you see it taking on education/training and/or other roles?
