Hot for Kindle
The Kindle HDX at $348 is a real deal and  a great product to boot.  If Amazon ever gets into the smartphone business then it is true Amazon is Google's competition.

I'm guessing we'll see an Amazon smartphone this year.

The compete head to head in cloud storage
Personally, I think Google would like to be Amazon's and Apple's competitor in ability to sell merchandize, but it's not. Amazon is not trying to compete in search, and while they're both cloud service vendors, they are quite differeent and probably don't compete a lot head to head except in storage.

Re : Google's Competition Is Amazon, Not Apple
This is quite an insightful article. One thing I couldn't understand though is in what sense Apple is put out of the equation. Is the consideration that Apple is too big to be compared to Google or is it the reverse? I agree with the rest. Gone are the days when companies specialized in one product or line of business.

Re : Google's Competition Is Amazon, Not Apple
@ cbabcock, I agree there are more differences than similarities between both companies' business targets. They both originated out of different entrepreneurs. Some figures about the traffic they attract and the revenues they generate from marketing could have been very useful to make a point in this comparison. In the absence of any figures, it is difficult to say anything.
