Apprenda API as a standard?
Lorna, Apprenda would love to have its scaling API become a standard, but to do so, it would probably have to make the scaling system behind it open source code, and I doubt if that's going to happen. On a proprietary system, that's pretty close to giving away the family jewels. Also, Amazon and Rackspace and others have their own scaling systems already built, so it would be through widespread adoption inside the enterprise that the Apprenda API might spread and become a defacto standard. I doubt that  enterprise PaaS adoption will become that uniform.

De Facto Standard
Do you think Apprenda is looking to make its API a de facto hybrid PaaS standard? Smart idea if so, but seems like it will need to walk a fine line to keep Amazon, Microsoft, Oracle, VMware and others all playing nice.
