I thought that seemed low, too, but I'd bet those numbers will increase drastically in the near future. Tech jobs, especially, seem to allow for more flexibility.

Talking about salary too early was a big mistake I made earlier in my career. But then again, I didn't know any better. I know what to do now.

Sometimes experiences like that are really what helps to define you going forward. I totally believe in that.

My dad told me that in any negotiation, the first person to state a number loses, whether you're buying a car or haggling over an item at an antique shop. Getting the interviewer to tell you the salary cap, or at least a range, seems like a huge win. But it seems like that rarely happens.

One surprise: Only 15% will negotiate telecommuting? That seems low.
