I'm definitely a Chrome...or maybe none of the above
But "Post-modern... and live in the cloud?" Not really. Truth be told, my answers to a lot of the questions were "none of the above." Now what OS does that make me?

Used to be a Windows person, until they upgraded to version 8. Now that it is confusing and touch-enabled, it makes me now want to be a Mac person.

In fact, now I am because of that, because Windows couldn't really decide what it wanted to be anymore.

Right there with you, Marilyn. Who knew brushing your teeth at night or driving a Toyota hybrid (Camry, not Prius though!) could determine my OS?! Fun quiz, much better than the latest "pick a door" or "which Harry Potter character" quiz floating around FB. Sharing now!

I've been doing this so long that answering a quiz like that would scream "green screen mainframe timesharing".

Not a lot of arguments over emulators back in those days....  :-)

Chrome OS seems to be nice because who wouldn't want to be post-modern, travel light and be everywhere! -- It finishes a lot of the problems that are associated with the red pill or blue pill paradox.

Windows 8.1 is also important and a Win 8.1 vs. Win 7 post that only focuses on the additional features would be great.

Fun quiz. I'm an OS X (and, in fact, do like hummus).

@LeeB120

Funny, I thought I was the only one. who answered mostly C, but uses Win 7. But the way, Windows 7 is my favorite OS.

Curiously enough, I'm an old Pascal programmer (former Borland cultist) who has been living in the UNIX world for the past 20 years or so.

Definitely a UNIX-head
But my wife and I met at church choir.

Apparently, my boss had me pegged when he started introducing me to UNIX, because I was that way when I was a DOS-head too.

It's funny because personally I find UNIX annoying to use (though I understand its appeal for others), but MS-DOS is my all-time favorite OS.  I think it all went downhill with Windows 95.  :p

Re: Definitely a UNIX-head
Yep...Windows 95 was what prompted me to ditch MS operating systems on my personal equipment.  I've never liked to be dictated to and definitely preferered an optional GUI to a mandatory one.  Ironically, I fled to OS/2 (at least the GUI was better) and went to Linux from there.  But I had already started using UNIX professionally before Windows 95 came out, which made Linux all the more appealing to me.

Funnily enough, it was all so Windows could more effectively appeal to the Mac market(/copy Mac OS).  It was the Applification of Windows.

The result?  A big GUI mess!  ;)

I definitely think Batman would be more appealing to the typical Linux user than Loki.  For starters, he's got all that great computing equipment and he's surely not running Windows or OSX (most likely OpenBSD).

@ danielcawrey, that's been the problem with Microsoft even since they launched Windows 8. They seem to be confused about where to go from there. There was a considerable amount of clamoring from users about the new user interface and Microsoft could never decide whether to stick to its new UI or provide some fixes. They had better taken some clear direction.

@ Brian.Dean, I don't really understand what is really postmodern about Chrome OS which in my opinion has a long way to go to become a reliable operating system. Such a post telling the additional features of Windows 8.1 would be very useful for hesitant users. I don't want to look like a Windows 8.1 promoter but I would really like to explore more about it.

Re: Re : Which Desktop OS Are You? IT Pro Personality Quiz
Sachin, Of course this was all tongue-in-cheek, but I think Chrome is pretty different from the Windows and OS X, esp the way it resets every time you reboot. To me, that's a security win. Thus the "post modern" comment. Thanks for reading!
