People are writing for the exposure, so it's all about an audience compared with a personal blog -- where is the best chance of this getting passed along and going viral, or even semi-viral. It'll be interesting to see how much data LI shares on views, since that can be both addictive (I'm a star) and discouraging (no one cares).

Not just exposure to your connections, but others as well. Depending on how many shares, likes, and comments your post receives, LinkedIn could choose to highlight it as it does posts from its top Influencers. This could potentially expose you to thousands of new connections.

In looking at Twitter, it appears that people are pretty excited about this new feature. But as you mentioned, how much extra time do people really have to read and write?

What is the advantage vs setting up your own web page blog? The exposure to your connections I guess. But if all your connections start blogging, will you really have time to read them all? I see LinkedIn merging with a media company some day. Who agrees?
