sip
Since i have discovered SIP, i no longer use native voip.

I recommend an app like mizudroid and you are ready to go with any voip service provider.

Re: Change IS hard
Tom, I had high hopes for Google Voice.  Now, I feel they know so much about my browsing habits, even if they did commit to Google Voice, I'd probably be hesitant to have them tracking my every call.  Of course with the NSA doing that, I'm not sure what's left to worry about.

I feel the same way. It's telephone company lock-in. If I were convinced Google is committed to Google Voice, I'd port my landline to GV and just be done with it.

Data Plans
I guess I was late in the smartphone data plan but my voice minutes are unlimited, I pay more for data. I guess I might make up for some of it in Wi-Fi areas but I'm not seeing it.

Change IS hard
Your point that people, even when presented with a better choice, are often slow to change is an important one, and one of the paradoxes of the presumed efficiencies of a free marketplace  (or perhaps one should say, inefficiencies).

I'm embarrased to admit: I know I should have abandoned my home wire line years ago.  But I have so many  business accounts for which that number is my primary identification/connection, the thought of notifying everyone to reach me now via my cell phone is just daunting enough to keep me from severing the cord.

IT's Reputation: What the Data Says
InformationWeek's IT Perception Survey seeks to quantify how IT thinks it's doing versus how the business really views IT's performance in delivering services - and, more important, powering innovation. Our results suggest IT leaders should worry less about whether they're getting enough resources and more about the relationships they have with business unit peers.
